Russellville Jr/Sr High Principal Kim McDaniel has announced two new student recognition programs in addition to the honor roll. These are designed to include other aspects of being a successful student.

“Besides academic fortitude and perseverance, we know that in order for students to be successful they must academically achieve, but this can be greatly impacted by other factors such as attendance and behavior,” McDaniel says.

The Golden Panther award has been created to recognize and honor students in the three areas that contribute most to their overall success—grades, attendance and behavior. Those chosen must have all A’s, no absences/tardies and no behavior referrals for the nine-week period.

They will receive a Golden Panther card that will be good for various items and events during the next nine-week period.

The students who have achieved those levels will be recognized Tuesday at the board of education meeting. They are as follows:

Sixth Grade: Chaun Cheaney, Sania Dukes, Trynity Dukes, Karlee Elrod, Cassidy Farwick, Josh McMurry, Chloe Shumate.
