John Bergman has joined the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA) as an outreach counselor helping students and families in Logan County.

“I am very excited about this great new opportunity. I look forward to working with all the students, families and communities in Logan County,” he said. “I hope to help students strive for success and become well aware of what college has to offer them.”

“John’s experience as a near-peer advisor in the Kentucky College Coaches Program makes him a perfect addition to our team,” KHEAA Director of Outreach Services Susan Hopkins said. “His work with students, families and school administrators will help us spread the message that higher education is, indeed, accessible to all Kentuckians.”

Bergman is a native of Falmouth and has a bachelor’s in history and political science from Thomas More College and a master’s in history from Western Kentucky University. Before joining KHEAA, he was the coordinator of college coaches for the Kentucky Campus Compact.

KHEAA is the state agency that administers the Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES), need-based grants and other programs to help students pay their higher education expenses.
