A summary of The Week That Was at Russellville Sr/Jr High as reported by the principal:

Congratulations to our 2015 Basketball Homecoming Court and to the Panther basketball team on a well-deserved victory over South Warren during our homecoming activities.  The following students were elected by their classmates to represent each grade level during the homecoming ceremony:

9th Grade--Kristin Vanzant, Luci Suiter, Dillon Porter, Logan Long; 10th Grade—Tara Gilbert, Malynn Ray, Paul Jones, Jaylyn McMurry; 11th Grade—Tristan Gentry, Chandara Vanna, Tyler Johnson, Colby Nichols; 12th Grade—Raven Hale, Jada Morris, Yasmine Moore, Tristan Cunningham, Desmon Quarles, Tacorian Darden

Prince and Princess—Dillon Porter and Tristan Gentry

We would also like to recognize and thank Ms. Jessie Baker and the Pep Club for ensuring that we had a fabulous Homecoming week filled with fun activities and spirit days.

Friday was also our green out/Team Dillon day in honor of RHS freshman Dillon Porter.  The RHS gym was packed Friday night by not only Panther fans, but Cougar fans as well to honor this young man as he continues his battle with Lymphoma. There were several events and items raffled off on Friday night with proceedings benefiting the Porter family. We would like to thank all of the Panther and Cougar fans who came out to support this family.

Congratulations to the Lady Panthers on two more victories this week, as well.  The Lady Panthers defeated the Lady Raiders of Warren East in overtime on Monday and pulled out another win at Dawson Springs Saturday.  We are very proud of the progress being made by this young team and the new coaching staff led by Coach Calvin Head. 

The RMS Academic Team was in action this past week at the Regional Governor’s Cup held at Glasgow Middle School.  The following students placed during the event:

Benjamin Slack—Social Studies, 6th Place

Brandy West—Written Composition, 7th Place

Rian Saul—Written Composition, 9th Place

Future Problem Solving Team—5th Place Overall

Congratulations to this team and Coach Tina Shoemake on a very successful season for our middle school academic team students.

The RHS Swim Team was in action this past Thursday with a meet against Logan County. Senior Eduardo Rodriguez was honored during his last home event with the team.

 

The RHS Archery team traveled to Muhlenberg County this past weekend for a tournament.  Senior Brian Clinard placed 2nd in his division!! Congratulations, Brian!

Several members of the RHS Academic Team traveled to Owensboro to participate in the National History Bowl.  The team won their division Saturday and qualified for the national event during April in Boston.  Thank you to Mrs. Jennifer Rogers for escorting and working with this team for this event. 

 

Team members include Adam Williams, Brandon Johns, Phillip Wilkerson, Brennan Hughes and Will Mullen.
