Freshly fallen snow along with added icy conditions have setback road clearing efforts. Motorists need to expect any travel this Wednesday morning to be worse than it was yesterday afternoon. If motorists have to travel today, please use extreme caution. Tremendous progress was made Tuesday with Interstate 65, parkways and many A routes across the district in good shape.
However, deteriorating conditions this morning have dumped an accumulation of snow on roads throughout the district. Icy spots have also formed following some heavy melting yesterday. Crews who were plowing and treating B and C routes last night have now be forced to return to A routes beginning around 3 a.m. this morning.
The low temperature in many cases has caused any salt treatment to be ineffective. Sunlight will be the biggest positive factor and if it occurs for long periods of time today the slating treatment could have an impact and melting could happen.
