On March 16-18, the Lewisburg Jr. Beta Club attended the State Jr. Beta Convention in Louisville.  Students participated in several events including Arts and Crafts, Academic Exams, Scrapbook, and Songfest.

Sylas Morris placed third in the Spelling Exam, which qualifies him to compete at the National Convention in June.

The entire club placed second overall out of 29 clubs in the Songfest Competition, which also qualifies them to compete at Nationals. Songfest requires students to take a well-known song, rewrite the words to fit the theme of convention and showcase what Beta Club is all about. Then they add hand/upper body movements to the song, while keeping their feet stationary and perform that song at convention.

This year’s theme was “Betas: Rockin’ The Country,” and a committee made up of Maria Wells, Addie White, Makayla Strode and Hannah Goss wrote words to the tune of “Lips Are Movin’” by Meghan Trainor.

The National Convention is in Nashville at the Opryland Hotel on June 25-29.
