Davenport named top SKYCTC Health Alliance student

Ryan Davenport, a student from Logan County, received the Overall Allied Health Award during a ceremony conducted by Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College Wednesday.

Among those present for the event was Dr. Jay Box, the new president of the entire Kentucky Community & Technical College system, along with SKYCTC president Phillip Neal.

Each year Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College recognizes students from each of the Allied Health programs of the college who have excelled in academic and clinical excellence as well as leadership. This year SKYCTC honored 20 Allied Health students with awards presented at the annual Allied Health Award Ceremony April 8 at on the Main Campus of the college.

Awards are given in four areas, Academic Excellence, Clinical Excellence, Excellence in Leadership and Overall Program Excellence. An award is given in each of these areas in five disciplines—polysomnography, radiography, respiratory, surgical technology and diagnostic medical sonography.

Davenport’s first award was for Overall Program Excellence in radiography,

Then he received the top award, which is in recognition of overall excellence among all students in the Allied Health programs.

Admission to Health Alliance courses at SKYCTC is very competitive and few are chosen. To be named the top student overall is a monumental accomplishment.

Another Logan Countian who was honored is Sarah Elizabeth Maley, In recognition of achieving and maintaining the highest level of clinical proficiency in the respiratory field.
