The Logan County Public Library is hosting Logan County native and author Holly Goddard Jones on Sunday, June 14 at 2 p.m. The program will feature Holly reading selections from her writings, as well as discussing and autographing her books.

Holly was born in Russellville and graduated from Russellville High School. She received her BA from the University of Kentucky and her MFA from The Ohio State University. Presently, she is Assistant Professor of English at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She previously taught at Denison University in Granville, Ohio and at Murray State University, as well as teaching workshops for the Reynolds Young Writers’ Workshop, the Sewanee Young Writers’ Conference, the Sewanee School of Letters, and Centre College.

This spring author Silas House selected Jones for Transylvania University’s Judy Gaines Young Book Award, which honors a work from the Appalachian region. The honor came with a $2,000 cash prize.

The Next Time You See Me is Holly’s debut novel about a woman’s disappearance in a rural Kentucky town and the secrets its residents keep. The town is a loosely disguised Russellville. Girl Trouble, Holly’s first book, was published in 2009. The book is a collection of eight short stories set in small Southern towns which explore moral dilemmas and the fine line between good and bad.

Holly was a 2007 recipient of a Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers' Award, a 2013 recipient of the Hillsdale Award for Fiction from the Fellowship of Southern Writers, and a 2014 recipient of the Kentucky Literary Award.

The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library and is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
