Logan County High School has announced the selection of Phil Eason as the school’s interim principal, effective Aug. 6. Eason served as interim principal at Barren County High School in 2011, where feedback about his performance was outstanding, most noteworthy was his level of engagement with the high school students and school staff, notes Superintendent Kevin Hub.

Eason has more than 30 years’ experience in a broad variety of positions including teacher, coach, high school principal and superintendent. For several years, he has worked with the Kentucky Association of School Administrators (KASA) as a leadership consultant and executive coach for new superintendents, including with the Russellville Independent School District. Throughout his career, he has been known for his ability to create cultures of collaboration and trust, with a focus on communication and student interaction.

Eason is very excited about being selected as the interim principal at Logan County High School. “Logan County High School is known for its excellent staff, student body and parent support, and I look forward to getting to know the community and being a part of that tradition. I can’t wait to get started.”

Logan County Schools superintendent Dr. Kevin Hub says, “I have known Phil Eason for 15 years. I first met him while he was superintendent of Ashland Independent Schools in eastern Kentucky. We collaborated on a federal grant serving seven large high schools. Even as superintendent, Phil’s knowledge and level of involvement with his high school was impressive. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role of principal. We are excited about his willingness to accept the role of interim principal at Logan County High School.”

The Logan County High School SBDM Council meets next week to review stakeholder feedback, and on Aug. 24 to determine which applicants will receive an interview. The Council hopes to make their decision in time for a new principal to be on board during the first week of September. Current LCHS assistant principal Alissa Todd is serving as acting principal until Eason begins.
