Caycee Spears has been selected as the next Logan County High School principal by the school's Site-Based Decision Making Council.  He currently serves as the principal of Chandler School and will transition into his new position at the high school over the next two weeks. Prior to working at Chandlers, Spears taught English at LCHS and served as a curriculum consultant with the Logan County school district.

Spears said he is excited about the opportunities that await at LCHS: "Having worked in the district the last few years, and especially from having taught here, I realize what a tremendous source of pride the high school is to the entire community. With rich traditions and outstanding community support, LCHS provides a great education to the students of Logan County."

"I know many of the wonderful faculty and staff members already and a good number of the students and their parents, so I am looking forward to continuing those relationships while establishing new ones," he said.

Logan County Schools superintendent Dr. Kevin Hub says, “Caycee Spears has proven himself to be an outstanding leader, especially in the areas of communication, collaboration and culture. He brings a wealth of skills and experience to the role of principal. We are excited about the potential for growth at Logan County High School under his leadership.”

Spears and his wife Bonnie have three girls, ages 11, 8, and 3.

He will become the fifth principal in LCHS history, following Howard Gorrell, Bob Birdwhistell, Bob Nylin and Casey Jaynes. In July, Jaynes resigned to accept a central office administrative position in a large school district in Northern Kentucky. Consultant Phil Eason has been serving as interim principal.

LCHS is the third among the six schools in the Logan system to have a new principal this school year. All three new principals were assistant principals within the system. Olmstead assistant principal Bonnie Watson moved up after long-time principal Ben Kemplin was promoted to the central office. Auburn assistant principal Kristina Rice became the Adairville principal following the reassignment of Katina Kemplin.

Now Chandlers’ SBDM will begin the process of selecting a replacement for Spears. Former LCHS guidance counselor Robbie Davis is Chandlers assistant principal.
