On Tuesday, Sept. 8, a list of 66 schools from across the Commonwealth was released from The Kentucky Department of Education. This list was for Honorable Mentions, schools which are being recognized regarding teaching conditions, school safety and student achievement.
Two schools on this list were Logan County schools, Auburn School and Olmstead School made the cut.
In order to be considered Honorable Mention, schools had to reach the 50 percent minimum threshold for response rate with the TELL Kentucky Survey, a survey for teachers and staff to rate their schools’ working conditions.
Next, the schools had to rank in the third or fourth quartiles regarding their working conditions. School data was then reviewed in relation to school safety in order to move to the next level.
Once a school passed these stringent guidelines, an Advisory Team reviewed their complete field of data, and schools were placed on the Honorable Mention listing with representation from each of the State Board/Judicial Districts.
Being on the Honorable Mention listing places schools in the running for the Winners’ Circle. Ten schools will be honored at the upcoming Kentucky Continuous Improvement Conference on Sept. 21-22 in Lexington for excellent TELL Survey results and student achievement, as well as remarkable teaching and learning conditions.
We wish our own Auburn School and Olmstead School the very best of luck in becoming one of the 10 and congratulate them for being an Honorable Mention. This is great honor for two exceptional schools!
