Logan County High School assistant principal Alissa Todd has been selected to participate in the 2015-16 National Institute of School Leaders (NISL). She will attend 26 sessions over 12 months. “Providing our teachers with support to improve their practice in the classroom is vital as an administrator.” Todd says.

NISL’s Executive Development Program emphasizes the role of principals as strategic thinkers, instructional leaders and creators of a just, fair and caring culture in which all students meet high standards. It ensures that school leaders can competently and effectively set direction for teachers, support their staffs and design an efficient organization.

The program combines best practices in teaching and learning, subject-area content knowledge, and leadership knowledge and practices. A critical component within NISL Program is the action learning project. This project should improve instructional practices in the classrooms in the school.

Todd is excited about the opportunity to grow as a leader to better serve the students and families of Logan County. She says, “I feel very fortunate to have been awarded this opportunity. The knowledge that I am obtaining and the network of colleagues I am creating will enhance my abilities to serve our students.”
