Russellville Junior/Senior High School has announced the establishment of an annual James C. Milam Award that will be presented each spring to a very deserving student ambassador.

The student will be selected by his or her peers and recognized for service in honor of James C. Milam, chairman of the Russellville Independent School Board.

For several years, Milam endorsed and promoted the idea of starting a student ambassador program. Brandon Blake, assistant principal at Russellville Junior/Senior High School, embraced the idea and has developed a strong student ambassador program.

The Russellville Junior/Senior High School Ambassadors have held many presentations in the community as well as at the Kentucky School Boards Association in Louisville in February 2014. They were also invited to present at the April 2015, Spring Conference of the National School Boards Association in Nashville.

The James C. Milam Award was announced at the annual induction dinner held at Federal Grove on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
