Pictures of members of the Amish community in and around Auburn clearing snow and ice from Auburn streets Saturday have become a social media sensation.

WTVF-Channel 5 in Nashville carried on their Facebook page one of the pictures, which was sent to them by Eric Tisdale of Auburn. The caption:

“A story out of Auburn, Kentucky (Logan County) has gone viral. The Amish community there has been plowing side roads and driveways to help out residents without being asked. (Photo sent in by Eric Tisdale)"

By 6:30 p.m. Sunday, the post had drawn over 51,000 Likes and 1,300 comments. Additionally, it had been shared over 22,000 times.

The irony of the situation is that several members of the Amish community have been issued warrants for not having collection devises to collect waste attached to their horses as they travel the streets of Auburn. Two of them spent time in the Logan County Detention Center for refusing to pay the resulting fine this son.

Members of the Amish community are known to have discussed selling their property and moving to an area where they feel more welcome. 

Russellville Sexton Kenny Gregory posted a picture and said, “This is really commendable of them after the way they were treated!”

Several people commented on Gregory’s post and other pictures that were posted. The LoJo found no negative comments against the Amish under either Gregory’s post or the Channel 5 posting.

Wilber Mast was clearing the snow off the streets of Auburn with his two horses pulling a grader blade. They were doing great work!
