EPB will stop carrying pair of BG TV stations after this month

Effective Jan. 1, Russellville Electric Plant Board (REPB) will no longer be permitted to carry the NBC and CBS network programming of WNKY-TV from Bowling Green, due to restrictions by that station's networks.

Cable operators, such as REPB, are only permitted to carry a broadcast television station with that station's consent, and REPB's consent agreement to carry WNKY terminates at the end of this year.

The NBC and CBS network affiliation agreements that WNKY has with those networks now prohibit WNKY from granting REPB permission to carry its network programming after Dec. 31, 2016. As a result, REPB will discontinue carriage of the WNKY station on Friday December 30, 2016.

REPB will continue to carry WSMV- NBC and WTVF-CBS from Nashville, TN.
