Five LCHS juniors named Governor's Scholars

School will not be in session for LCHS students Monday as we have our last Data Day of the year.

The mid-point of the quarter is upon us, and progress reports will be distributed to the students Tuesday afternoon. Just a reminder that you can access your child’s grades, behavior, and attendance information any time via the Parent Portal of Infinite Campus. Governor’s Scholars

Congratulations to the following LCHS students for being selected for the prestigious Governor’s Scholar’s Program:

·         Katie Brooks

·         Shelby Hardison

·         Evan Hughes

·         John Mark Page

·         Austin Rayno

 

 FBLA news (from Mrs. Abbi Lillard)

Congratulations to the following students for placing at the FBLA State Leadership Conference this week. All students in attendance did a great job and represented LCHS well.

·         Isaiah Price placed 3rd in Business Law.

·         Shelby Hardison placed 5th for Job Interview.

·         Joey Dilliha placed 1st for his Public Service Announcement about drone safety.

These students qualified to go to the FBLA National Conference in Anaheim, Cal. June 29- July 2.

Band news (from Mr. David Dayton)

Monday the LCHS Choir performed at the Kentucky Music Educators Association District 3 Choral Concert Performance Assessment at WKU. The LCHS Choir earned an overall Distinguished Rating! I am very proud of these students for their hard work and preparation for this performance. They represented themselves, their ensemble, school, and community with a stellar performance and mature, respectful behavior!  If you see these students, please congratulate them on a job well done.

Girls’ basketball

Open gym for girls basketball will start next week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:15 to 5:00 p.m. each day.

Scheduling update

The guidance counselors conferenced with over 300 students and their families this week and made individual schedules to meet each person’s needs for the 2017-18 school year. These sessions provide a platform for everyone to work together to meet the needs of the students. We encourage you to make an appointment to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity if you have not already done so.

·  Week of April 24—Rising juniors (Class of 2019) will register

·  Week of May 1– Rising sophomores (Class of 2020) will register

Graduation date (repeat info)

Graduation for the Class of 2017 will be Sunday, May 21 at 4 p.m. at WKU’s Diddle Arena.

Mentors/Tutors (repeat info)

Mrs. Amber McKinney, Mrs. Julie Cox, and Mrs. Dedra Adler have put together a list of senior BETA students who are available to mentor/tutor in various subjects. If you know of students and/or parents who could benefit from this assistance, please contact Mrs. McKinney at 270.726.8454.
