Red River Meeting House’s 68th ANNUAL ASSOCIATION MEETING is fast approaching. Please mark your calendars, bring a dish and a friend to RRMH on Sept. 10. The annual potluck dinner has the best food and the speaker is always interesting. You do not have to be a member of the association to vote during the business meeting, your presence gives you the right to vote. There is always something that comes up during the business meeting that is educational and interesting. Please stay for the whole thing so you won't miss the fun.
Also we will be electing a new board member, so if you are interested or have someone in mind, we need your input. Potluck will be at 1:00 p.m. and the meeting will be at 2.
22nd ANNUAL PRIMITIVE CAMPMEETING AND RENDEZVOUS will be October 13-15. Plans will be finalized and speakers lined up soon. Coy's BBQ will be our food vendor, and his camp food is always delicious. Camp or visit at our Living History event. Details are on the website or call Tom Ruley at 270-586-7632.
28TH ANNUAL SCHOCHOH CHRISTMAS PARADE AND 9TH ANNUAL CANDLELIGHT SERVICE- Dec. 3. Parade begins at 2 p.m. and RRMH candlelight service will be at 4 p.m. Come join us as we participate in the parade and then go worship at RRMH.
NEWS ITEMS
WHO WILL FILL HER SHOES? Ms Nola Willeford passed away March 23, 2017. She was a board member for many years and very supportive of RRMH even after she could no longer attend the meetings. She will be greatly missed. Her family asks that any memorials in her honor be given to RRMH or Hospice of Bowling Green.
MARKER SOLUTION  The state highway marker for the RRMH has been paid for and the work is done thanks to Carl Foster, who worked very hard to get this accomplished. We greatly appreciate all who donated to this endeavor. The marker should be in place soon.
ANNUAL BLANKET TRADE DAYS were March 31- April 2. The weather was nice and everyone had a good time trading their items with each other and with visitors. Parson John (Frank Jarboe) was our Sunday speaker. The round robin game on Saturday night was very active with everyone participating, especially the children.
Darlynn Moore is missing a tan blanket from the trade game evening. If anyone has found it, she would love to be reunited with her favorite blanket.
CELEBRATION OF FREEDOM in the Historic Logan County Courthouse was July 15, 2017. Our president, Richard Moore, represented farmers as a flag bearer. Darlynn Moore, Steve and Laura Gove, and Tom and Dreama Ruley represented pioneers who settled Logan County. It was a very touching tribute to the freedoms we enjoy as Americans.
NEW BOOKS IN THE MAKING:  Melanie Meadow is working on a sequel to her book “The Waking Up,” which is based on the revival of 1800. Her sequel is based on the Cane Ridge revival.
Dreama Ruley has been working on a book about the Primitive Campmeeting and Rendezvous that has been an annual event for over 20 years. This is a book about its beginnings and memories through the years. Hopefully it will be ready by the annual meeting in September.
GROUPS AND WEDDINGS have been enjoying the facilities. If your group or church would like to use the restroom facilities the policy is $100 to rent; and $100 cleaning deposit, which you will get back if facilities are clean upon inspection. Write two checks to Red River Meeting House. Contact Richard Moore at 270-539-6528 for more information.
Someday we hope to have a pavilion adjoining the restrooms and your donations are greatly appreciated.
MONTHLY CHURCH SERVICES are every first Sunday of the month with various speakers. Please join us at 3 p.m.
PRESIDENT'S CORNER: Summertime is such a busy time with church groups and activities at the RRMH with the beautiful weather and peaceful surroundings, a great place to reflect on God's goodness and bask in His presence. Recently I met with some people from Alabama who were so impressed with RRMH that they had to bring friends. He told me that he enjoyed relaxing and resting on such anointed grounds.
Preparations for fall events are underway. Just like the crops on my farm, there is a harvest we have to work for the Lord. We must all get busy to do our part.
My grandson, Charlie, has had more treatments but he is doing well. His body is reacting like the doctors hope and his spirits are high. We enjoy watching him play and act like a normal 6-year old even though he is going through some hard times right now dealing with lymphoblastic leukemia. God is definitely at work in this situation and we greatly appreciate your prayers.
Richard Moore
