The Logan County High School class of 2018 has the distinction of having the highest ACT Composite score in the school’s history with a 20.3 this past spring. The class members also surpassed the state’s average in each of the four core areas.

The continued increase in student achievement over the past few years is no small feat and is the result of high expectations, hard work and an ongoing commitment on the part of the school’s students and staff members. LCHS principal Caycee Spears also noted that parent and community involvement play a major role.

“We have tremendous support from the entire community, and everyone should take pride in this accomplishment,” he said. “We are committed to providing access to the best education possible and helping all of our students reach their goals.”

LCHS average scores in the designated disciplines were as follows:

• English - 19.85 average. State average - 19.2.
• Mathematics - 20.0 average. State average - 19.4.
• Reading - 20.32 average. State average - 20.3.
• Science - 20.83 average. State average - 19.9.

The ACT test is the nation’s most popular college entrance exam and is a standardized test that consists of curriculum-based scores for designated college courses in English, mathematics, reading, and science, with a purpose to help measure college readiness and provide personalized information concerning personal strengths for education and career planning.
