First Week Back Success

The first week back was a cold one but that didn’t stop RJSHS from kicking into high gear. Students braved the chilly first week and brought great attitudes with them as they entered into the critical third quarter of the school year.

ACT Success

Several Russellville students received ACT results back this past week and there were some tremendous successes! Three current RHS students now have scores of 34 or higher. A perfect score on the ACT is 36. Of all students in the United States who take the ACT each year, only about 1 percenet of those students score a 34 or higher.

Russellville Ready Deep Dive Day

This coming Friday (Jan. 12), RHS seniors will participate in their second of three off-campus Deep Dive Days. During these days, RHS seniors are divided into groups of 4 to 6 students and design and present on current topics of relevance. Students are coached by local community members, members from the Kentucky Department of Education, and educators from both the Russellville Independent School District and Logan County Schools. Deep Dive Days are part of the new Russellville Ready initiative that focuses on evaluating transition ready skills in students in RISD. The program, brought to the district by Superintendent Bart Flener, has been piloted this year with the 2018 seniors and has already gained state-wide attention for its innovative approach to student evaluation. RISD will be presenting the Russellville Ready Program to the Kentucky School Board Association in March of this year.
