KMCA President and Hopkinsville City Clerk Crissy Upton has announced that Becka Cox, Auburn City Clerk, was named the 2018 Kentucky Municipal Clerk of the Year at the annual Spring Conference in Covington last week. 

President Upton stated, “Becka has been an asset to KMCA for the past several years, serving as chairman and member to several KMCA committees since 2004. She truly wants to move the Association forward and is willing to do anything she can to assist with that goal. She currently serves as the Education Committee Chair, which is an integral part to training new city clerks across the Commonwealth.” 

Auburn Mayor Mike Hughes described Cox as “self-motivated, and wiling to rise to any challenge.” He noted Auburn is fortunate to have Becka as its city clerk and stated, “Becka has exceeded all my expectations of the city clerk. She is a top-notch employee and servant of the City.”    

Cox was hired as Utility Billing Clerk in 1996 and was appointed City Clerk-Treasurer in 2000. She received her Certified Kentucky Municipal Clerk designation in 2003 and her Kentucky Master Municipal Clerk and International Certified Municipal Clerk designations last year. She is currently working on the International Master Municipal Clerk designation, which is the highest certification available to municipal clerks.

Cox recently completed a two-year term on the KMCA Board of Directors and continues to serve on several KMCA committees. She is the current President of the Barren River Municipal Clerks Association. 

Becca Cox is a previous recipient of the KMCA Presidential Award from Debbie Batliner in 2010 and from Crissy Upton in 2017.
