Called “Hope Starts At Home” this year, what Logan Countians have long known as Relay for Life will be held this Saturday during the first weekend of the Logan County Tobacco & Heritage Festival.

The event is a key fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Teams have been working for months to raise money and plan unique setups for Friday’s fun-filled event.

Although the official hours are from 6-10 p.m. at the Ag Arena adjacent to the Logan County  Extension Office, Survivor Registration will begin at 5 p.m. Survivors will be treated to muffins from Jenna’s Kitchen, the business of Auburn Middle School student Jenna Cole. All cancer survivors are invited to attend.

The Opening and Survivor Ceremony begins at 6. Brent Summers will host the Basket Auction immediately afterwards.

Later the Luminaria Ceremony at 9 p.m. “You can purchase a bag for $10 in honor or memory of a loved one or a star lantern for $50,” explains Terrie Lawson, senior manager of Community Development for this area. “Bags and lanterns can be taken home at the end of the night.”

Music will be played by DJ Clay Bilyeu, Moonshiner Tyler Wood will be present, and there will be karaoke.

The Kids Zone will include a Dino Dig with prizes, inflatables, game. Chase and Marshall from Paw Patrol will be there. A$10 wristband entitles youngsters to access all of the Kids Zone. 

Vendors and teams will be set up selling food and other items.
