Russellville High School Athletic Director Kyle Yates has announced that on Friday at 2:10 p.m. in the RHS Library, Dillon Porter will be signing his letter of intent to play baseball at Brescia University.

“Dillon’s commitment comes as a product of perseverance and overcoming adversity,” Yates says. “In November 2014 Dillon was diagnosed with Lymphoblastic lymphoma, a form of cancer. Over the next two years, he fought and battled his way back to health, all the while, maintaining his academic and athletic commitments.”

Porter is a 4.0 student who is currently a member of the Panther Academy that attends SKYCTC in Franklin where he is earning college credit hours during his senior year. He is a member of the BETA Club, the school band, the Student Ambassador program, and the National Honor Society.

He plays first base as well as pitches for the Panther baseball team and has committed as a versatile utility player for Brescia.

“Please join us as we celebrate Dillon’s accomplishments and the beginning of his next step, academically and athletically,” Yates says.

Dillon is the son of Donnie and Polly Porter.
