Lady Cougars dominate Ohio County

Total domination! The Logan County Lady Cougars dominated visiting Ohio County 31-18 in the second half Tuesday on the way to a 62-40 win. Coach Finley Baird’s team had led 17-13 and 31-22 at the first two stops.

Sophomore center Kennedy Nichols scored 11 of her game-high 23 points in the fourth quarter. She was 5 for 5 at the line in the quarter and 9 of 14 for the game. She also pulled down 13 rebounds and added 2 assists.

Sophomore reserve Peyton Vanzant was second in scoring with 12 points. Junior guard Sarah Beth Hale added 9 points. Fellow starting guards Paige Vanzant and Carlie Alvis each had 5 assists. The Vanzant twins, Paige and Peyton, each had 3 steals with Hale adding 2.

Junior Blayke Bingham, who joined Nichols, Hale, Alvis and Paige Vanzant in the starting lineup, was second in rebounding with 7 and Hale added 5 boards.

Logan hit 15 of 28 free throws and Ohio 9 of 14.

Kate Edge led the Lady Eagles with 15 points.
