Rangers upset Auburn and Olmstead to win county boys championship

Third seeded Lewisburg knocked off  the two higher seeds on the way to the championship of the boys Logan County Middle School Tournament Saturday.

Final

Lewisburg 37, Olmstead 23

Coach Brent Hinton’s team beat top seed Olmstead 37-23 in the finals. Keeton Hall scored 14 points with Nathan Dye adding 6 and Wyatt Blake and Brennon Long 4 each. Cade Johnson added 4 and Brent Fuller 3.

Cole Porter and Luke Milam each played in all four quarters for the Rangers. Also seeing action were Justin Bobbett, Montgomery Milam, Ethan Stratton, Lane Atkinson and Brady Hinton for the champions in the championship game.

For the Coach Drew Teel’s Rams, Donovan Morrow had most of the points with 14. Bronson Fuller. Hayden Strader and Javan Sydnor each scored 3.

Kayden Miller, Denton Motsinger, and Kayden Miller were also starters for OMS. Also seeing action in the finals were Keaten Blick, Jaxon Kenner and Ryland Nichols.

Lewisburg 31, Auburn 26

The Rangers had used a balanced attack to beat the number two seed Auburn 31-26 in the semifinals earlier in the day. Slaughter scored 8, Luke Fuller and Porter 6 each, Blake 5, and Johnson and Dye 3 each. Slaughter scored 6 of his points in the fourth quarter, highlighted by going 4 for 4 at the line.

Brady McLellan led a balanced attack for Coach Josh Hall’s Tigers with 9 points. Chance Sweeney scored 5 with Tanner Robinson and Clay Warden getting 4 each. Davin Yates and Kade Wall each scored 2.

Also playing for the Tigers were Landyn Gorrell, Isaac Stanley, Jacob Haas, Calloway Bills and Dakota Clinard.

Olmstead 33, Adairville 31

Morrow scored 11 points in the fourth period on the way to a tournament-high 20. Four free throws were part of that final stanza surge, and Petrie also hit one to account for the winning margin. Petrie finished with 5 points while Motsinger and Strader each had 3 and Sydnor 2.

For Adairville, J.R. Taylor had 17 points with Collin Williams scoring 7, Zane Batten 5, and Corbin Rayno 2. Also playing were Chandler Snorton, Dustin Brown and Hunter Davenport.

The Cardinals led 17-11 at the half, but the Rams turned on in the second half.

Adairville 32, Chandlers 22

Coach Daniel Hartley’s Cards got off to a better start, leading 17-11 at the half in a Thursday night game.

Taylor scored 13, Williams and Rayno 7 each, Batten and Brown 2 each, and Davenport 1. Jack Delaney, Ryan Rayno, Chandler Snorton and Tramaine Snorton saw action.

Cameron Matthews led the Bears with 9 points. Caleb McCoy scored 6, Cole Ramsey 4 and Colton Pendleton 3. Cody Sydnor and Logan Gidcumb each played in multiple quarters.

Also seeing action for the Bears were Riley Harrison, Jaden Blick, Hunter Jessup, Lawton Plubee, Dylan Priddy, Hayden Brewer, Travis Kodiak, Mason Brown and Connor Hurt.
