The search for the next Logan County High School head boys’ basketball coach continues and has drawn interest from numerous candidates with various levels of experience.

According to LCHS Athletic Director Greg Howard, 16 individuals from across Kentucky and Tennessee have applied for the position with numerous others expressing interest in the vacancy. The applicant pool includes several coaches who have had great success in coaching basketball, including many with multiple district titles and regional championships.

“We are pleased to have such a deep pool of applicants,” Howard said. “It’s remarkable when you look at the quality of the applicants for the position. It’s very gratifying that these people feel Logan County is the place to be.”

The position came open when Lonnie Mason stepped down after six years as the Cougars’ head coach.

LCHS principal Caycee Spears anticipates the school will name a coach by the end of April. “Based on the applicants we have received, we feel confident that we will be able to find the person who will take our program to the next level.”
