Finally getting the chance to write a little bit about events that have taken place in athletics lately;

Bass Fishing - Congratulations to the Logan County Bass Fishing Team competing at the KHSAA Regional Bass Tournament at Lake Barkley last Saturday. Two teams qualified for state: Trevor McIntosh/Thomas Lockhart and Matthew Mullins/Briar Webb. Congratulations to these young men, their teammates, and their coaches and boat captains. These four athletes will participate in the KHSAA State Bass Tournament at Kentucky Dam Marina May 11-12. Way to go, Cougars!!

Baseball – Congratulations to our guys as they are now 13-4 and atop the regional standings. The Cougars are currently on a five-game win streak. They will face district foe, Russellville next. That game is scheduled for today but not looking good. Congrats to our Cougars.

Softball – Congratulations to our Lady Cougars, who have shown they can play and beat some of the best teams around. The Lady Cougars are now 7-4 after tough back-to-back losses to two very fine teams, Grayson County and Greenwood. The girls will be back in action this Thursday playing a varsity doubleheader with Butler Co (5:30 p.m.) followed by South Warren (7:15 p.m.)

Track – Both teams recently competed in the prestigious Great Gator at Greenwood last Friday with many outstanding performances as they prepare for regionals in a few weeks. Both teams are back in action this Thursday in another meet at Greenwood.

Tennis – Tennis teams both have busy schedules as they try and make up for several matches lost due to rain. Both teams are back in action today against district rival Franklin-Simpson.

Archery – Thursday will be the KHSAA State Archery Championships and will award for first time a girls’ team championship. The event was previously treated as a coed sport-activity with one overall team championship awarded. Good luck to the following archers. The State Championships will be held at the Kentucky Basketball Academy in Lexington. Good luck to our archers!!! Boys will shoot at 1:30 p.m. EST and girls will shoot at 2:30 p.m. EST
