The Logan County High School Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) competed in the Raiders National Competition the weekend of November 2-4. The annual competition, held at Molena, Ga., is the largest Raider competition in the world, hosting 80+ teams and approximately 1,500 cadets.

“Raider” is a very popular athletic competition held within Army JROTC programs around the United States, similar to the ROTC (college age) “Ranger” competition. At the Nationals, select Army JROTC teams from across the nation compete in events designed to promote citizenship, leadership, physical, mental and emotional wellness.

For the weekend competition, teams competed in five events-- the Rope Bridge, Gauntlet, Cross Country Rescue, 5-K Run, and a Physical Team Test.

Logan County Raiders competed in the mixed team category (male and female) and finished in the top 15 in all but one event. The team’s best event was the Rope Bridge Challenge, finishing in fourth place, which helped them to an overall 12th place finish.

Cadets representing LCHS Army JROTC at the competition were Jenna Blythe, Emma Richey, Jacob Orndorff, Colton Brown, Adam Parnell, Ezekiel Epley, Kaie Kinmon, Hunter Henbest, Timothy Lutz, Brian Utley, Austin Starks, Sean Metcalf, Steven Adcock, Natalie Berry, Gracie Richey, Kaylin Reinitz, Eli Brown, Hunter Hadden, Haley Parnell, Michael Newman, Timothy Wilson, Sol Toth, Kainin Thomas, Devon Center, and Chloe Conn.

The program is under the leadership of LTC Mike Triplett and CSM Joe Brockman.
