After winning two of three games in the South Central Bank-Halton Classic at Allen County-Scottsville High School last week, the Logan County Lady Cougars will take a 7-4 record into Friday’s Clash of the Lady Cats at Russellville Friday at 6 p.m..

Coach Finley Baird’s team beat Covington Holmes 79-64 and Nelson County 78-43 in the three-day round robin, but the Lady Cougars lost 67-58 to host AC-S. The Lady Patriots went undefeated in their tournament and have the most wins in the region with a 12-3 record.

Senior Blayke Bingham received the lone scholarship that went to a player in the Classic, presented by Dollar General.

Here’s a look at the Lady Cougars’ season so far:

LCHS 52, Warren East 48

Paige Vanzant scored 15 points, Sarah Beth Hale 13, Kennedy Nichols 7 and Addie White 6 in the win. Hale and Vanzant each hit a pair of 3-pointers and White one.

Nichols pulled down 13 rebounds with Bingham and Hale grabbing 6 each and Vanzant 5.

Hailey Hymer scored 14 points and Lucy Patterson 9 for East. Carolina Foster hit 7 of 14 free throws, but the Lady Raiders got only 14 of 38 foul shots to fall. Forrester had 15 rebounds and Patterson 10. Thanks to Logan’s defense, the Lady Raiders struggled overall in shooting, hitting 16 of 59 field goal attempts for 27 percent.

Clarksville Christian 56, LCHS 42

Nichols scored 15 points and Hale 10. Nichols hit 7 of 9 field goal attempts, and White sank both of her 3-point attempts, but Vanzant was off, hitting just 1 of 9 shots.

Kennedy grabbed 12 rebounds, but second place was a distant 5 recorded by Hailie Borders, Vanzant, and Bingham.

Graves County 60, LCHS 38

The only game the Lady Cougars have not been competitive in was played at Owensboro Catholic in the Independence Bank Classic.

No Lady Cougar reached double figure scoring. Brittany Garrett led the way with 8 points while Bingham and Hale scored 7 each, and Vanzant and Nichols 6 each. The Lady Cougars were awarded only 13 free throws, hitting 7. They took only 4 shots from long range with Bingham hitting the only successful one.

Bingham and Nichols each pulled down 7 rebounds, Garrett 5 and Carlie Alvis 4.

Logan out-rebounded Coach Joe Hood’s team 51-23.

LCHS 43, Franklin-Simpson 41

In a game that was tight all the way, Logan County’s Kennedy Nichols scored on an inbounds play with 40 seconds remaining, and the Lady Cougar defense forced Franklin-Simpson into an off-balance 3-pointer at game’s end. As a result, LCHS won 43-41. Nichols finished with 12 points with White and Hale scoring 11 each. Nichols added 13 rebounds.

Evyn McCutchen led Coach Lex Lindsey’s Lady Cats with 17 points. Hadley Turner scored 7 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

Hale hit 4 of 6 three-pointers while the Vanzant twins each got one to fall from long range. Nichols, meanwhile, was 7 of 9 from the field.
