Football season begins Friday

The high football season begins Friday in Kentucky with every team hoping its own will end in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association championship games in Bowling Green in December.
The Russellville Panthers and Logan County Cougars are both coming off good seasons and playoff wins. They both return well-seasoned quarterbacks who also do well in other sports. John Logan Dockins has started most of the games of his high school career for the Cougars, and D.J. Quarles has been behind center for three years for the Panthers
The Cougars will be on the road at Central Hardin in the opener. The game will be be tape delayed and broadcast over WRUS and www.wrusam.com at 2 p.m. Saturday with the father-son team of Andy and Zack Woodall behind the microphones.
The Cougars play their oldest rival at Rhea Stadium. The Franklin-Simpson Wildcats will come calling for a 7 p.m. start. Air time for the pregame show will be 6:30 with John Brett Reynolds and Alex Watkins as the commentators.
