Senior center Kennedy Nichols scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Logan County Lady Cougars to a 60-47 win over visiting Clinton County Saturday.

Nichols, who has passed both the 1,000-point and 1000-rebound career plateaus recently, hit 7 of 9 field goal attempts.

Her close friend and fellow senior, Paige Vanzant, added 13 points, aided by hitting 5 of 6 free throws.

The second quarter proved to be decisive for Coach Finley Baird’s team. The Lady Cougars took that eight-minute span 13-5 with Addie White and Abby Hinton each hitting a 3-pointer. Gracie Christian and White each scored 4 points in the quarter, and Peyton Vanzant hit both her free throws.

White, who had hit a trey in the first quarter, too, finished with 9 points, as did Gracie Christian—all of hers coming in the middle two quarters. Peyton Vanzant added 8 points.

Landree Moons topped the Lady Bulldogs with 18 points, all of which but 2 came in the second half. She went 6 for 6 at the line in the second half after going 0 for 4 the first half.
