John Tinsley, who put together a remarkable two-year run as head boys basketball coach of the Logan County Cougars, Tom Rogers reported on YourSportsEdge.com Friday afternoon.
In these two seasons under Tinsley, the Cougars went 53-11, including 28-4 this year. When they lost to Bowling Green in the regional semifinals, a 2-game win streak came to an end. In those two years, Logan won the 13th District title both years along with a game at region each year.
The Cougars started four seniors and talented junior Anthony ‘Rooster’ Woodard.
After a very successful two year run, the Logan County boys basketball team is looking for a new head coach. The school announced Friday afternoon that Coach John Tinsley had stepped down. No reason for Tinsley’s departure was given in a social media post.
Tinsley was 53-11 in his two seasons at Logan County.
Tinsley has been successful at a number of area schools throughout his career, but he seldom stays long in one place.
Logan County will have two new head basketball coaches whenever high school sports resume. Lady Cougar coach Finley Baird resigned after a successful seven-year run in the job. Her replacement, experienced head coach Dedra Adler, has already been named as her replacement.
LCHS Athletic Director Greg Howard was not available for comment Friday. He is a member of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Board of Controls, which had an most important meeting this weekend.
