Banging out 14 hits—including two each of triples and homers, the Logan County Lady Cougars completed a regular-season sweep of the Clash of the Lady Cats Tuesday, bearing visiting Russellville 13-6.

Winning pitcher Shelby Gettings and speedster KJ Page each got 3 of the hits. Page  scored 3 runs. Gettings added a walk. Running specialists Natalie Cates and Sierra Seiber scored 3 and 2 runs, respectively.

The most power came from catcher Emerson McKinnis and Grayce Mefford, who each homered. McKinnis also singled and walked; she drove in 3 runs and scored. Mefford added 2 walks to her homer, piled up 4 RBIs, and scored twice.

The triples were off the bats of Shayla Johnson and Hailey Collins. Johnson also singled, had an RBI, and scored. Collins recorded an RBI and a run scored.

Maddix Mowles was the fifth Lady Cougar with multiple hits, singling twice. Abby Hinton walked.

Gettings gave up 5 runs in 5 innings on 7 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3. Johnson pitched the final two innings, allowing a run on 4 hits but no walks. She fanned a pair of Lady Panthers. She only needed 25 pitches to get the six outs.

It was Coach Mark Wood’s team’s ninth win in their last 12 starts. The Lady Cougars are 13-9 overall, 7-3 in the region and 5-0 on the district.

The Lady Panthers’ statistics have not yet been reported. However, The LoJo has learned that veteran pitcher/infielder Addie Mosier powered a grand slam for RHS. Coach Ryan Davenport’s team scored the 6 runs on 11 hits but just 2 walks.

Senior Chloe Whitescarver, a multi-sport Lady Panther standout, was injured in the game. It’s a hamstring injury and she’s expected to have to sit out some games during a painful recovery.

The Lady Panthers are 17-7 overall, 6-5 in the region and 1-4 in district games that count on seeding. They have a pair of wins over Todd Central, but the one in All A tournament play doesn’t count on the district standings.

Final seedings will either be determined or left to coin tosses next Tuesday. The Lady Cougars will go to Franklin-Simpson (4-1 in the district) and the Lady Panthers will entertain Todd Central (0-5). If LCHS and RHS win, they will be seeded first and third, respectively. Losses would result in tiebreakers.
