Flener and Brown lead state stats as Soccer Panthers win 14th match

The Russellville Panthers traveled across town Monday to take on Logan County Tuesday and got the 10-0 soccer win to improving their record to 13-5-1.

Scoring were Avery Flener (3 goals, 1 assist), Milo Brooks (3 goals), Dalton Gilbert (3 goals), Jeremiah Smith (1 goal) and Dustin Brown, who broke his own school record of 6 assists in a game, serving up 8 assists.

“Seniors Flener and Brown are now currently leading the state,” says RHS coach Jeramy Rust. “Avery has 45 goals on the season and Dustin has 32 assists.

Those numbers grew by four each after a 5-1 win over Barren County the next day.

“Next week is the 13th District Tournament at RHS and we will be in action on Tuesday the 5th against Todd County Central at 7:30. Pack the stands as we challenge for the tournament title and a trip to the 4th Region Tourney.”

Tuesday, the Panthers concluded their remarkable regular season with a 5-1 win over Barren County. Flener scored four more goals and added an assist. Smith scored the other goal, and Brown added four more assists to his state-best total.

Bollenbecker turned four of the Trojans’ five shots on goal.

Rust, who has been coaching the team for six years building up to this season, notes the Panthers have outscored their opponents by 64 goals.
