Hoptown edges Middle School Cougars 20-14

The Middle School Cougars played host to the Hopkinsville Tigers this week in a single game matchup of the 8th graders. The Cougars fell short despite a great second half of football to Hopkinsville 20-14.

The Tigers scored a long TD run of 75 yards with 1:00 left in the first quarter, but the two=point try was no good. With 6:00 on the clock in the second quarter Hopkinsville scored again on a 94-yard run to make it 12-0. The Tigers found paydirt again late in the second quarter, going into the half 20-0. 

The Cougars started the second half on offense and drove the field ending with a 6-yard pass completion by Isaac Christian to Ayden Trimble for a TD, but the two-point try was no good. With 4:19 on the clock in the fourth, Christian found Damani Goodloe in the end zone. Jeremiah Washington ran a successful two point try to make the final score 20-14.

The Cougar Defense held the Tigers scoreless in the second half and rallied to put themselves in position to tie the game, but the Cougar fumbled the ball in Tiger territory.

The Cougars tallied 127 yards of offense to Hopkinsville's 248. Ninety Five yards of the Cougar's offense was through the air. Defensively the Cougars recorded several players making stops with Lucas Cross leading the way with 3 tackles and 2 resulting in a loss of yards.
