The Logan County Lady Cougars broke their losing streak in a big way Tuesday, beating the Lady Patriots 62-48 at Allen County-Scottsville.

The Lady Cougars went 13-2 in their first 15 games but then lost the next four. After being credited a COVID Cancellation victory over Russellville Monday, Coach Dedra Adler’s team put together a balanced attack in the impressive road win.

Four Lady Cougars finished in double-figure scoring. Nora Epley led the way with 14 points, Gracie Borders and Emerson McKinnis added 12 each, and Kadyn Costello 10. Adding to the balance were McKinnis with 8 rebounds and Costello and McKinnis 7 each. Costello had 4 assists and Emily Borders 2.

Costello added 2 steals and a blocked shot. Epley hit 3 of 6 three-pointers with Gracie Borders and Carrie Gloyd each hit their only three-point attempts, and Sierra Seiber went 1 for 2 from long range.

Logan shot well from two-point range, going 20 of 34. Epley, Costello, McKinnis, Kaelyn Perdue and both of the Borders girls hit 50 percent or better from close range.

Jaleigh Steenbergen led the Lady Patriots with 14 points, Jaylee Covington 12, Aubrie Naiser 8 and Chloe Cook 6.

The Lady Cougars outscored their hosts in every quarter to lead 14-8, 27-19 and 46-34 at the first three stops.

Logan County is scheduled to host Todd Central in a girl-boy doubleheader Friday.
