The entire team was involved in the Lady Cougars’ 21st win of the season Thursday, as Logan County coasted past visiting Allen County-Scottsville 56-39 to wrap up a special regular season.

It came while Coach Dedra Adler, who was a solid player for the Logan County in the late 90s, was named Fourth Region Coach of the Year in the week she recorded her 100th win as a head coach, combining her totals in leading the Russellville Lady Panthers and the Lady Cougars.

It was also a night to honor the seniors, and the trio of Logan 12th graders saw plenty of action. Kadyn Costello has been a starter for two seasons and was a key reserve her sophomore year. Classmates Sierra Seiber and Samarah Dowell joined her in the starting lineup Thursday, and the three of them averaged playing over 20 minutes each in the win.

Eleven players on the Lady Cougar roster played in the game, and eight of them scored.

Changing the starters didn’t hurt Logan’s start. The Lady Cougars put the game away early, leading 14-5 and 29-11 after the first two quarters.

Junior Gracie Borders led the Lady Cougars with 15 points and 12 rebounds. She leads the team in rebounding on the season and is tied with Costello for the scoring lead. Borders’ most impressive statistic may have been her five steals. She also had two assists and a blocked shot. Costello added 12 points, 2 rebounds, an assist and a steal. Emily Borders put together a solid game with 9 points, 6 rebounds, a steal and an assist.

Nora Epley missed the start but had one of her best games. She hit three of five 3-point attempts, scored 10 points, and made two steals and an assist without a turnover while playing 14 minutes and 27 seconds.

Emerson McKinnis had the rare experience of watching the opening tipoff from the bench, but she contributed four each of points and rebounds while recording an assist without any turnovers.

Aubrie Naiser led AC-S (12-16) with 12 points while Avery Morris scored 9.

The Lady Cougars will entertain the Lady Panthers in both team’s 13th District Tournament opener Tuesday.
