Logan County Athletics Report to start 2023

Just wanted to share some information about our teams and coaches.

BOYS SOCCER - Logan County High School is proud to announce the hiring of Trevar Gray as our new head coach. Trevar was an assistant for the Cougars last year and is currently a teacher at Chandlers. Welcome, Coach Gray!

SWIMMING -  Our swim team will be traveling to Central City Convention Center to take on the Muhlenberg County High School Mustangs today. Admission is free and these kids would love to see some fans today supporting them. The meet starts at 6 p.m.. 

Saturday they will compete at BGHS in the The Best of the West Invitational. If you get a chance, please come and watch these kids. They are something to watch!

BOYS BASKETBALL - The Cougars continue to make strides and are currently sitting at 5-8 on the season. The freshman and JV will host the Panthers of Russellville tonight starting at 6. The varsity will be back in action on Friday in the Clash of the Cats at Russellville.

They will play again on Saturday in a JV-V matchup, hosting the Trigg County Wildcats starting at 6 p.m.

The LCMS 6th and 7th grade teams travel to St. Joseph tonight. First tip is at 5:30.

GIRLS BASKETBALL - The Lady Cougars also continue to improve on the season and boast a record of 9-6. The Lady Cougars will also be in action Friday at Russellville starting at 6 p.m.

Saturday the Freshman Lady Cougars will be hosting a Freshman League starting at 8 a.m. Teams participating will be Logan, McLean, Bowling Green, Edmonson County, and Greenwood. Each Saturday these and other schools play at rotating sites. 

ARCHERY - County archery is in full swing, and this Saturday  Auburn will be hosting their tournament. Hopefully we can share some of those results on our next update.

COUGAR FOUNDATION HALL OF FAME CEREMONY- Don't forget about the upcoming Clash of the Cats hosted here on January 27. This will be a special evening as former Logan County athletes are honored by being inducted into the Logan County Cougar Foundation Hall of Fame.

A diverse group of people who have played key roles in the history of Logan County sports will be inducted into the Logan County Cougar Foundation Hall of Fame in late January between games of the Clash of the Cats.

They include graduates of four of the five middle schools, one who did not attend a school in the county system, three African-Americans, three who excelled in Logan sports before consolidation,, a woman, two who excelled in two sports, one former LCHS teacher, two who were high school varsity sports standouts in middle school, two who are over half a century apart in age, and stars in baseball, boys basketball, girls basketball, football and track.

The honorees are John McCarley (Auburn 1959)Ed ‘Fido’ Jones (Adairville, 1973)Re Jeana Green (Chandlers 1980)Chris Taylor (LCHS 1986)Thomas Washington (LCHS 2010), Dustin Cartas (LCHS 2013)Jim Turner (Sports Reporter 1971-Present)

What a great night this will be.
