Logan County senior Gracie Borders has been voted First Team All-Region by the basketball coaches, and Russellville sophomore LaReesha Cawthorn is on the Second Team. The top 15 players of both genders were announced Friday.

Borders has been a fixture in the Lady Cougars lineup all four years of high school. She passed the 1,000-point mark that night for her career in a win over Todd Central. She scored 30 points in an overtime win over Greenwood the week before.

She also was the highest honored local player last season—girls or boys. She was on the Second Team in 2022.

Borders is averaging 17 points and 10.5 rebounds per game currently.

Cawthorn is one of the top rebounders in the state at 13 per game, and she’s scoring 18 points per outing. Her potential is unlimited.

No player from the Land of Logan was named to the top three boys teams, but South Warren’s Brandon Rowe is on the second team. He has been in Russellville often throughout his life as the beloved grandson of Betty and retired Russellville teacher Algie Ray Smith. His mother, Karol Smith Owen, is a graduate of Russellville High School.

From 13th District schools, Second Team honorees include Todd Central’s Alexis Taylor and Jamison Glass along with Franklin-Simpson’s Jalen Briscoe. The only Third Teamer is Franklin-Simpson’s Lee  Lee Partinger.
