Middle school Cougars start 4-0

Winning big twice in a season-opening doubleheader and squeezing out a couple of close decisions in their next two games, the Logan County Middle School baseball team is off to a 4-0 start.
The Cougars whipped Moss of the Warren County School System 15-0 and 17-2 and then pulled out a one-run win over Muhlenberg County and a two-run victory over Christian County.
The second-year team is coached by Kyle Wall, Travis Steward and Curt Whittington.
Logan 15, Moss 0
Hunter Britt pitched the shutout, striking out five of the six Dragons he faced in the mercy-rule shortened game. Caleb Bruner went 3 for 3 while Daniel Beaty and Luke Woodall were each 2 for 2. Also getting hits were Cole Stanley, Chase Williamson, Michael Riley and Britt. Tucker Baldwin, Bruner, Britt, Riley and Woodall each scored two runs. Also scoring were Trent Deberry, Ben Wright, Stanley, Beaty, and Williamson. In fact, all 10 players who batted scored.
Woodall, Riley, Williamson, Wright and Beaty each had two RBIs. Baldwin walked twice and was hit by a pitch.
Logan 17, Moss 2
Jordan Hendrix pitched the win. He didn’t give up a hit in two innings and struck out three, but he walked three batters and hit another.
Deuces were wild for Stanley, who went two for two with two runs scored and two RBIs. Also getting hits were Riley, Bruner, Britt, Beaty, Baldwin, Deberry, Williamson and Woodall. Bruner and Riley each scored three runs while Britt, Beaty, Baldwin, Stanley, and Deberry each scored twice. Beaty doubled and joined Britt and Baldwin with an RBI each. Baldwin drew two walks, running his total to four on the day in only two innings.
Logan 9, Muhlenberg County 8
Beaty singled to lead off the fourth inning, advanced on Deberry’s walk and scored on a groundout by Williamson for the winning run. Beaty went three for three, scored two runs and drove in two. Bruner was two for two with a pair of runs scored. Riley, Britt, Baldwin and Woodall also had hits. Riley and Bruner scored a pair of runs while Britt, Deberry and Woodall scored a run each. Woodall, Williamson and Britt each had an RBI.
Britt pitched his second win of the young season.
Logan 11, Christian County 9
The Cougars got only six hits in this one but also walked six times. Britt doubled among his two hits and Bruner doubled. Britt also had three RBIs, highlighted by driving in Riley and Bruner with the winning runs in the third inning. Riley scored a trio of runs, as did Beaty while Bruner and Baldwin each scored twice and each had an RBI. Woodall singled, was hit by a pitch and scored a run.
