Lady Panthers win another All A softball regional

For the fourth time in five seasons, the Russellville Lady Panthers are regional champions in the All A Classic softball tournament. This is the third consecutive title for Coach Ryan Davenport’s team.

The Regional Tournament was played Saturday at the Russellville Panther Softball Field.

In their first game, the Lady Panthers defeated a very good Clinton County team 8-2. A'miyah Collier pitched a complete game striking out 5, allowing 5 hits,  and 2 runs. The Panther defense was perfect in the field committing no errors. 

Russellville scored 8 runs off 7 hits, led by Collier. Turtle Bell and A'miyah Collier, who all collected multiple hits. Collier was 2 for 2 with 2 homeruns, 3 RBIs, and 2 walks. Senior Catcher Jaylah Kees was 1 for 4 with 3 RBIs. Also collecting hits were Madison Penrod and Reese Croslin. Reese Croslin and Jae'da Poindexter also recorded RBIs.

Russellville Softball then defeated Todd Central 5-1 in the championship game. Collier pitched a complete game, striking out 7 batters, allowing only 4 hits, and 1 run. Jae'da Poindexter led the Panther offense with multiple hits, going 2 for 4 with a double, triple, and RBI. Croslin recorded a double and 1 RBI. Madison Penrod, A'miyah Collier (triple), and Jaylah Keys (RBI) also contributed to the Panther offense with hits. 

Also seeing action were Chloe Penrod, Kayelynn Davenport, Raleigh Roberts, and Kamari Browder. 

Russellville will compete in the Class A State Tournament on April 29 at Jack Fischer Park in Owensboro. The first game will be played at 8:30 a.m. vs the 2nd Region champion.
