A talented group of athletes representing Russellville High School qualified for the state Class A track meet by their performances Tuesday at regional. Of the seven headed to state, three qualified in three events and three in a pair of contests.

Leading the way was Jermani Morris, who won the 100 meter dash and joined Turtle Bell, Ja’eda Poindexter and A’miyah Collier in winning both the 100 and 200-meter relays.

Also qualifying in three events was Collier, who placed second to Morris in the 100 in addition to the two relays.

In addition to Poindexter and Bell in the relays, the other Panther to move on in two events was Justin Bigbee, who placed second in both the 110-meter and 330-meter hurdles. In both of those, he was beaten by Jake Bisop of Green County.

The other two qualifiers won a first place together. Joshua Hardin and A.J. Woodard combined to win the Mixed Long Jump.

Times and lengths are shown for most events in the accompanying graphics.

Mikie Benton is the RHS track coach.

Collier, Bell and Poindexter achieved this on the day between playing in the semifinals and finals of the district softball tournament.
