Nearly every Saturday since late August, Coach Frank Boone’s Logan County Cross Country team has been in action. The runners keep improving.
The following descriptions of the meets were reported by Coach Frank Boone.
The LoJo
The Cougar XC teams battled a hilly course and hot, steamy weather at the Madisonville Classic Saturday, Aug. 31. Here are all the runners results from the meet:

The LoJo
The Logan County middle and elementary cross country teams headed to Hopkins County Central and competed in the Storm Invitational Saturday, Sept. 7. Several Cougars shined with top 20 finishes against strong competition, while others continue to improve with personal best times early in the season.
SJ Hughes led the way for the boys middle school team. His 12:51 time was good for 77th place, beating half the field in his first effort at the 2.7k distance. Corbin Ruuska was right behind him in 79th, running 12:55 and setting a new PB by 54 seconds.
Deklan Ruuska (138th, 16:05) continues to improve in his first season of competition.
The girl’s elementary division had 101 competitors. Delaney Switzer (7th, 10:08) and Bella Burgess (13th, 10:45) were in the mix early in the race and finished strong. This was their first time running the 2.3k distance, and Coach Boone couldn’t have been more pleased with their efforts.
Both boys elementary runners had excellent performances as well. Abel Conelly placed 4th out of 86 runners, stopping the clock at 9:25. Joe Blanton (17th, 10:14) ran with the front pack for most of the race as well.
The LoJo
Logan County traveled to Muhlenberg County and competed in the Mustang Stampede Saturday, Sept. 14. The varsity teams were competing against many of their regional foes for the first time this season. The middle and elementary school runners stretched out in distance at this meet as well. The Logan County Cross Country teams fought through hot, steamy conditions and rolling soft terrain at Greenwood’s Gatorland Invitational Saturday, Sept. 21. Over 1,000 runners from Kentucky and Tennessee competed across the six divisions, making this the biggest meet of the season to date. Several Cougars continued their upwards trends and set personal records at the Phil Moore Park course.
