Panther baseball to play in Class A regional Saturday
As Russellville baseball resumes after a year’s hiatus, the Panthers will play Cumberland County in the Class A Regional Tournament at Monroe County Saturday at 2 p.m. Clinton County and Monroe County will play the other semifinal at noon.
Coach Seth Whittaker’s team is currently 0-4. The Panthers are scoring runs but not enough yet.
The losses are to Butler County 14-2, Hopkins County Central 17-2, Livingston Central 14-4 and Heritage Christian 9-6.
Russellville does not report individual hitting or batting statistics to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association for publication.
The Logan Journal has not been able to obtain a numerical roster of the players.
The KHSAA site lists these players as being on the team:
Seniors: Samuel Cruz, Hunter Hallman and Abryian Rodriguez
Juniors: Christian Lyons, Gabriel Sitz and Landynn Stratton
Sophomores: Gus Gunderson, Landon Gunderson, Taven Harris, Samuel Herrera. Khristian Ortiz and Diego Vera
Freshmen: Carsen Farmer and Michael Lack
Since that was published, we’ve learned that some other players have become part of the team, including senior multi-sport athlete Too Too McKeage and freshman Mason Davenport.
