The Russellville-based Lady Saints won the USSSA Kentucky State Tournament this weekend at Buchanan Park in Bowling Green. They played in the division featuring girls ages 14 and under.

Coaches are Dontray Hampton, Tremaine Covington and Brandon Shoemake.

Players are Anyiah Hampton, Kha’mirah Hampton, Bailey Shoemake, M’Ryiah Boyd, Mariah Merriweather, Mee Mee Merriweather, Legna Taylor, Lexi Tripplett, McKenna Mcelveen, Georgia Martinez and Camille Garland.

Although they are state champions, the season is far from over for the Lady Saints. In their first tournament as June began, they were runners-up in the Queen of the Diamonds 5 Game Blast in Owensboro.

This weekend they will play in the 16th Annual Santa Claus Sizzler in Jasper, Ind.

They won’t play in a tournament next week during the Fourth of July weekend, but they will practice often getting ready for the USSSA Great Lake Nationals in Evansville Jully 7-12.

The Lady Saints will return to Bowling Green July 19-20 for the Hilltopper Hit Fest 5GG, the only non-USSSA event they will play in all summer.

Their last scheduled event of the year is the 4th Annual USSSA Last Bats in Evansville July 26-27.
