The RHS Alumni Associations Athletic Hall of Fame committee is pleased to announce its two newest members.
Donald Bell, RHS Class of 1972
Roger Daniel, RHS Class of 1975
Donald "Duck" Bell was an outstanding three-sport athlete at RHS. He was the captain of his football, basketball and baseball teams.
He was a three-year starter as a defensive back and running back on three of our best Panther teams. Our ‘69 team lost in the regional final to Tompkinsville 0-0, our ‘70 team lost in the state semifinals to eventual State Champion Bardstown 7-6, and our ‘71 team that lost a hard-fought game to eventual state champion Trigg County 27-19. Those years bring back a lot of great memories of our great Panther Football tradition.
He was also a three-year starter on our basketball and baseball teams as well.
Roger Daniel was a member of our 1974 and1975 13th District Champion Panther basketball teams.
His biggest contributions were to the youth of our town. For close to five decades, he gave his time coaching our youth in basketball and football. Almost every football and basketball player growing up in Russellville can thank Roger for his guidance and encouragement on the playing fields and on the hardwood. He also found time to coach basketball, both girls and boys, at the middle and high school level.
More inductees will be announced at a later date. Information on dates and times for the ceremony will be announced at a later time as well.
