Senior baseball infielder
Braxton Meguiar of Auburn has received the Grizzly Award for being the GGC student-athlete who best embodies the core value of sportsmanship. This was one of three major honors presented Friday at Georgia Gwinnett College Office of Athletics Annual Awards

Meguiar received first All-America team accolades and concluded his playing career with eight GGC career offensive records: Games played (243), games started (241), at-bats (839), hits (334), runs (334), runs batted in (210), doubles (68), and walks (208). His 334 runs are a NAIA record. Meguiar batted .410 and started all 63 games for a team that reached the semifinal round of the Avista NAIA World Series.

Braxton started every game but two during his four years playing for the Grizzlies, and they reached the World Series each of those four years. He was second-team All-America as a junior before becoming a first teamer this year.

Baseball is a focal point of GGC’s athletics. In fact, the college will field men’s and women’s basketball teams for the first time this year.

GGC won an NAIA national championship in women's tennis and reached the national championship match in men's tennis in 2024-25. The baseball and softball teams advanced to the NAIA World Series in their sports, and men's and women's soccer teams played in their national tournaments.

Continental Athletic Conference championships were earned in baseball, softball and women's soccer.

Meanwhile, the Office of Athletics hosted NAIA Opening Round tournaments in baseball and softball, an Intercollegiate Tennis Association regional tournament, and CAC championships in men's and women's soccer, baseball and softball.

Now that his baseball playing career has apparently ended, Braxton is at the home of his parents, Nichole and Ethan Meguiar.

Local youngsters have a chance to learn more about playing baseball from someone who has played it skillfully, successfully and passionately. Braxton is offering to provide instruction on the game with private lessons.

He says, “I will be giving baseball lessons for those interested! You can message me on messenger or shoot me a text at (270) 731-9844.”
