After starting the soccer season 2-5, the young Logan County Lady Cougars have gone 3-0-1 in their last four matches to even their record at 5-5-1.

That gives Coach Barry McReynolds’ team hope to do better against Franklin-Simpson Tuesday than they did in Logan’s Sept. 2 loss, 9-2 to the Lady Cats.

A highlight of the winning streak was a 2-1 win Tuesday over Russellville in the Clash of the Lady Cats. Logan had won the first meeting between the two local teams 5-0.

Sophomore Luna Piedrabuena scored one of Logan’s goals in this one and assisted junior Katelyn Haas in scoring the other. Goalkeeper Lucy Violette turned away 9 of Russellville’s 10 shots on goal. Senior Madden Bloodworth scored the Lady Panther goal on an assist from sophomore Alexis De Lad Cruz. Senior goalkeeper Chloe Penro stopped 10 of Logan’s 12 shots on goal.

Here's a look at the other three matches in the Lady Cougars’ undefeated streak:

Lady Cougars 2, Muhlenberg County 1

Juniors Samara Corbin and Caroline Boortz scored the goals. Sophomore Harley Cowan was credited for an assist on one of them.

Exactly like the Russellville win, Violette—a junior—was successful at keeping 9 of 10 shots out of the goal.

Lady Cougars 9, Butler County 1

Boortz scored three goals and added three assists. Piedrabuena Sanchez also scored three goals. Reese Wetton and Cowan each scored a goal and earned an assists. Cobin scored a goal, and Kaylee Poe had two assists.

The defense only let the Lady Bears take seven shots, and Violette stopped six of them.

Lady Cougars 3, Clarksville Northeast 3

Piedrabuena Sanchez scored two goals and Wetton the other. Violette stopped 10 of 13 shots on goal.

Also seeing action in one or more of these matches were Emma Bellar, Abigail Bibb, Ava Cowan, Carlee Crawford, Isabelle Dennis, Richlynn Elam, Chloe Meredith, Kerrihanna Miller, Avery Owen, Destini Pascual, Frida Perez, Adalyn Rogers, Mina Salan Hurtado, Ava Semaan, JaNasia Taylor and Chloe Walker.
