After a lopsided loss in their opener, the Logan County Lady Cougars have regrouped tp win two games convincingly.

Lady Cougars 53. Warren East 43

Sophomore Brenley Adler led the way with 24 points by hitting 5 of 8 two-point shots, 2 of 5 three-pointers and 8 of 12 free throws. She most likely had a lot of rebounds, too, but that stat wasn’t posted.

Junior Reese Wetton also had not only a big scoring night, scoring 17 points, but she also shot almost perfectly. She hit all six of her two-pointers, both of her free throws, and one of her two three-pointers.

Also scoring were Addison Holloway, Avery Thompson, Anslee Buchannon and Alissa Hampton.

Coach Dedra Adler’s team shot better than 50 percent from inside the arc (16 of 31) and was improved on foul shots at 63 percent. Only one shooter was below 50 percent from the line.

Autumn Brooks led the Lady Raiders with 14 points and Brooklyn Nevile added 13.

Lady Cougars 47, Muhlenberg County 33

Hampton, a sophomore, was the accuracy queen from the field in this one, but foul line difficulties made her come up just short of team scoring leadership. She scored 15 points, one behind Adler.

Hampton, who was named Player of the Game in the Muhlenberg Farmers Bank & Trust Classic, hit 6 of 12 two-pointers and her only attempt from long range, but neither of her free throws fell.

Adler was strong again, going again with 16 points and 10 rebounds.  She hit 6 of 12 two-pointers and 4 of 7 free throws.

Foul shooting and three-point attempts proved to be a struggle for Logan. The winners went 2 of 8 from beyond the arc for 25 percent and 7 of 19 from the foul line for 36.8 percent.

Wetton pulled down 7 rebounds and was third in scoring with 5. Also scoring were Buchanan, Holloway and Thompson.

Isabella Wilkins led Muhlenberg County with 12 points.

Russell County 59, Lady Cougars 36

Adler was the only Lady Cougar who scored in double figures on a tough shooting night for Logan County on the road. With Adler hitting 3 for 4, Buchannon 2 for 2, and Thompson 2 for 3, Logan hit almost 50 percent (10 of 21) from two-point range, but those 21 in-close shots weren’t enough. As a result, they hit just 3 of 18 (16.7 percent) from long range. Adler, Buchanan and Wetton each hit a three-pointer. Buchanan and Wetton.

Adler scored 10, Buchanan and Wetton 7 each, Thompson 4, Holloway and Hampton 3 each, and Mina Sala Hurtado 3. Adler totaled 6 rebounds and Hampton 4.

Natalie Bartung led the Lady Lakers with 19 points while Addy Abrell, McKenna Ccamque, and Aniyah Coffey also were in double figures.
