Weather permitting, all four diamond teams—softball and baseball—from the Land of Logan will open their seasons at home at 5:30 p.m.
New on the scene is Logan County Lady Cougar coach Phillip McKinney, whobrings a history of success with him. Owensboro Catholic will be the opening day opponent. Returning seniors are Haley Henson, Caris Taylor and Kallie Taylor.
It wasn’t official that local and state Halls of Fame coach Ethan Meguiar would be back at the helm of Cougar baseball until a few months ago. He retired from teaching in the spring and then waited through a mandated dead period before he could be named coach. When that time passed, it was made official he will continue. Logan will entertain Butler County. Brody Bush and Drew McLellan are the only Cougar seniors.
Coach Seth Whittaker’s second Russellville Panthers baseball team will entertain West Creek of Clarksville. Seniors on the roster are Christian Lyons, Labryan Nourse, Gabriel Sitz, and Landynn Stratton.
Veteran coach and athletic director Ryan Davenport is working to continue the Lady Panthers’ success. Warren East is Monday’s opponent. His two seniors, Chloe Penrod and Ja’eda Pointexter, have been starters and key performers for many years.
