Older Babe Ruth Stars fall in postseason action

The games were close with varying levels of runs scored, but the 15-year-old Logan County Babe Ruth All-Stars dropped all three games in postseason play recently.

Shown in the photo, from left, are Coach Eric Proctor, Coach Terry Crafton, Trent Deberry, Dillon Brown, Brandon Jackson, Dalton Clark, Hunter Anderson, Ben Wright, Jordan Hendrix, Desmon Quarles, Hunter Crafton, Jacob Proctor, Wes Stratton and Manager Artis Stratton .

In the first game, Warren County built a big lead and then had to hold on for an 18-15 win that lasted much of the evening.

Jacob Proctor doubled and singled, drove in three runs and scored. Dillon Brown's two hits led to a pair of RBIs and two runs scored.Ben Wright tripled, drove in four runs and scored twice. Dalton Clark, Hunter Crafton and Hunter Anderson increased the hit total to eight. Desmon Quarles and Crafton each had two RBIs and scored two runs. Clark added an RBI and scored twice. Trent Deberry scored three runs, and Anderson scored a run.

Proctor was the starting pitcher. He gave up 10 runs despite allowing only two hits because he walked nine batters. Wright pitched the final five innings. He was just the opposite, not walking anyone but giving up 10 hits.

Franklin-Simpson beat Logan 7-2 in the second game. Quarles had two hits and an RBI. Crafton singled in the other run. Brown doubled and scored. Proctor scored the second run. Crafton and Anderson each had a hit.

Jordan Hendrix was the starting pitcher. He went three innings, facing 15 batters, giving up a pair of runs on three hits, a walk and a strikeout. Wright pitched two innings, facing 11 batters, giving up two runs on two hits, a walk and a strikeout. Proctor worked the final inning, facing 8 batters, giving up a trio of runs on one each of hits, 1 walks and strikeouts.

In the final game for Logan, champion Warren County beat Logan 11-5. Proctor had a pair of hits and scored a run. Clark doubled and had his team's only three RBIs. Wright doubled while Brandon Jackson and Crafton each singled. Deberry and Crafton each scored a pair of runs.

Starting pitcher Hendrix went three innings, facing 11 batters while giving up two runs on two hits, a walk and a strikeout. Crafton also pitched three innings, facing 19 batters, giving up nine runs on only four hits and a walk while striking out four.

All-Star Wes Stratton was injured early in the Babe Ruth season.
