If offense is offensive, the Logan County Lady Cougars were very polite Friday at Franklin-Simpson.

Coach Scot MacAllister’s team only got their offense clicking for a few possessions in the third quarter on the way to a 50-35 loss to the 13th District front runners.

When F-S led 24-17 at halftime, over half of Logan’s points had come at the foul line. LCHS had only made three field goals in 12 minutes of action, with three different players hitting one each.

Then Logan started the second half by making floor errors. Suddenly it was 31-17 after the Lady Cougars had committed five turnovers in the first three minutes after intermission. The Lady Cats’ lead ballooned to 17 before the visitors gained composure.

Lady Cougar Kapreshia Powell hit a seven-footer, Meagann Hardison canned a 3 –pointer, and Megan Lindsey hit a shot to cut the lead to 39-29.

The fourth quarter was all F-S as Coach Josh Matthews’ team won going away.

Hardison had 14 points for Logan and Abbey Hinton added 9.  Then it dropped off to Lindsey with 4, Laura Hunt and Powell 3 each, and Victoria Cates 2.

A bright spot for Logan was the return of point guard Hunt, who had been out of action every since the First Southern National Bank Christmas Classic championship game because of a shoulder injury.

Autumn Babb led the Lady Cats with 10 points. Sydney Gooch scored 9, Keely Morrow and Kandra Brooks 8 each, Megan Krantz 5, Jenna Curtis 4, and Tasia Covington, Tiara Gamble and Angelica Reetze 2 each.

Franklin has a 14-6 record overall and is 3-0 in the district. The Lady Cougars, who lost 65-48 to Ohio County Saturday, are 7-12 overall and 1-4 in the district.

Five of the Lady Cougars’ next four games are on the road, beginning Tuesday at Barren County in a girl-boy doubleheader.
